What Is The Difference Between Profit And Non Profit Debt Consolidation Services?

Are you stuck in debt and feel like there is no way out? What are you options and how can you get out of debt? There are debt counselors that are ready to help you lower your monthly payments and get you out of debt.

Have you ever heard those commercials on the radio or on the TV that say they can get you out of debt faster than you could ever imagine? They are really just after your money and they will charge you a lot of it to get you out of debt.

Most of the companies that are bad credit debt consolidation services are out for the profits. This is how they work:

First, the counselor will evaluate your financial situation. They will look into your credit history and compile a list of your current debts. They will also evaluate your income.

Next, if you enter into an agreement with the company, your counselor will begin to speak with your creditors to get your payments lowered, interest rates cut, and fees waived.

Then, you will have to send a monthly payment to the company and they will split it up and send the right amount to each one of your creditors for you.

Even though you are paying on your debts you will still receive your monthly credit card statement and you should check them to make sure your debt consolidation service is paying the right amount to the company and there are no extra fees being added. If there are new fees let your debt company know and they can handle it.

Since the company you choose to use to help you get out of debt has to make money, too, they will take a portion of your monthly payment for them. Sometimes they ask for a certain amount down before they do any work for you. This can be a bad thing and you should be careful if they ask for a down payment.

You do have other choices though. You can go to your local pastor or priest and ask if anybody in the church has volunteered to help others with their finances. Sometimes even your pastor or priest will help you and they will not charge a fee at all. This is a great option and if you don’t want to go this route you can use a nonprofit company.

A nonprofit debt service will help you in the same ways as one that is in it for the money, but they will not charge as much of a fee. They still have to cover expenses, but they will not make a profit from you. They will require some credit counseling, but this can be to your advantage anyway.

The final decision is yours to make and whether you use a profit or a non profit debt consolidation service is up to you. Make sure you pick the right choice for you and get yourself out of debt.
