You can start by putting together a sound budget for yourself. This is especially helpful if you know exactly what you are going to make each month or at least can make a good estimate. It is more important to get a debt paid off and be done with it, then to pay on a larger debt.
If the larger debts are not behind, though, make sure you pay your minimum payment so you don’t have another bad debt on your credit.
You can also hire a debt consolidation service to help you out. There are for profit options and not for profit options out there. The for profit companies will charge you a fee, but they will help you get out of debt. The not for profit companies will also charge a fee, but it will be much less and they will also give you credit counseling to make sure you don’t go back into debt.
You do have options if you have caught yourself screaming, “help me get out of credit card debt”. Set up a budget for yourself, figure out what you have left to work with each month towards your debts, and if you need to hire a debt service to help you out. Whatever you do make sure you follow the plan and get yourself out of debt.
