Debt Settlement the Light at the End of the Tunnel

When you are down and out and there seems no relief in sight, your situation is such that there is no light at the end of the tunnel, there is always hope.I have seen many people down and out with no hope because of the financial hole they have dug for themselves, helping someone in this situation is not an easy task but not impossible. Many have found debt settlement to be a way out of a life changing situation, debt does that to us, it changes us. Debt makes us sad, mean, uncaring, it brakes up marriages, families, businesses and more. Hopefully there is always a ray of light at the end of the tunnel and in this case it is called debt settlement.

The best and most effective strategy to tackle debt is to simply stop creating anymore, how do we do that? Just like any other illness we attack it directly, head on. The best advice is to cut up all credit cards at once, this is one of the most important steps to becoming financially healthy again. It is a never ending cycle transferring one account balance to another, cash advances, it never ends, it is an illness and unless we treat it as such and realize we are sick we will never get out of debt.

I have seen hopeless cases come across my desk, people with mountains of debt and the very first step they took was to cut all of their credit cards up and close their accounts. yes, closing accounts is important not only because it will stop us from spending more but also because it tells creditors we will no longer abuse their willingness to place us further into debt. Not entirely our fault we fell into the credit card trap.

Once this is done budgeting must be a priority, some may have more funds leftover at the end of the month than others and this money will have to be used to satisfy some of our debts. I say some because there is no possible way we can satisfy all of our creditors at once. What will be done is to start paying back or negotiating settlements on the accounts with the lesser amounts, we will get rid of one account at a time and therefore relieve stress. What this will do once we settle an account is leave us with more funds to settle the next account. We repeat this exercise over and over until all of our accounts are either settled or payed back in full. This system is not hard to maintain, but we must have patience and strength to wipe out all of our debt.

After we have reached our goal of ridding ourselves of our debt we must then slowly begin to build our credit again. It takes time to build credit it does not take much to ruin it. Hopefully by this point we have become more responsible handling credit and we can begin to reapply for some of the benefits it has to offer, knowing fully well that we can not fall into the trap again.

Reading about getting rid of debt and building our credit back up again sounds simple in theory, the tough part or the part most people do not like to deal with such as collections calls and correspondence must be learned to deal with and there are professionals in the arena of debt management that can coach us how to exactly handle this situation. There is always light at the end of the tunnel.
